Bigger and Better Things
If you would have told me 10 years ago that I would be buying my second house at 30, I would not have believed you.
In 2019, my wife and I decided to get married and move in together. We knew we did not want to live in an apartment, so we went through the process of finding a house. It was hell. All of our offers in our daughter's school district were rejected. We made the hard decision to look outside her school district.
With all the rejections, we were incredibly discouraged... until we made an offer on the home picture above. By the grace of God, it was accepted. The owners stated they were called by God to give us this house. A little strange to say considering they had no clue what our religious status was. However, looking back, it was true. God wanted us to have this house.
I remember the first time walking into the house in 2019. To be honest, I did not love it. It had old appliances, nasty carpet, and odd-colored walls. It was a little over our budget, and I knew I would want to make changes to it as soon as possible. The issue with wanting to change things was the lack of money we had to fix things. God answered our prayers over the years. With better jobs and more pay, we slowly updated the house.
We didn't change the "ugly" colors on the walls. The purple in our bedroom has given me such peace during hard times, and the green in the kitchen now brightens my mornings.
We have had amazing moments in this house. We fostered numerous animals and welcomed a new baby in the home. We have also had our bad moments.
This house has kept us safe through tornadoes and the uncertainty of the world. It has nurtured our family. We have grown because of this house.
With a lot of good things, they must come to an end. We are moving on to better things. We have outgrown this house. With 4 animals and two kids with many toys, it is time for more space. We have worked hard to be able to afford a nicer home. Though not easy, we have met yet another goal.
I hope we find peace and love in the new home as quick as we did in this one. And maybe I can sneak in some purple and green paint on the walls.
With wet cheeks and heavy hearts, we say goodbye to our first home.
